A cult favorite from my Jam-Band days with the Hooligan Band: recorded in 1989 in Wendall MA, Written, Produced by Don LaSala with a live in the studio( including lead vocal) performance by Hooligaan-Splinterz.

Beggar's Tomb

There's a tale they tell on the open road
Of a king who dressed in rags
Who traveled through his kingdom alone
Without fanfare or flags.
Happy were they in all of their ways
All the ones who took him in
And sorrows followed the lives of those
Who thought him stained in sin.

It's a long long way
Out of the Beggars tomb

When I was a wandering stranger
You gave me a place to sleep
When I was hungry you gave me food to eat.
And tho I am no better than any begger in the streets
You treated me like I was as fine a one
As you ever come to meet.

It's a long long way
But its the only road to choose.

She landed in the lap of luxury
And there's nothing that she ever need;
She throw it all away,
Turn and plant a fresh row of seed.
And many a man will waste himself
Lose it in another day's time,
For all his trouble will be paying double
There's nothing that a friend can say.

'Cept it's a long, long way
But it's the only road to use.
